  1. A New Chapter as We Move to Our New Burnley Branch

We’re getting ready to move our Head Office branch from 48 St James’s Street, Burnley, to our new home at 31–39 Manchester Road, Burnley.

This is a big milestone for us at Northern Community Bank, and we’re really looking forward to welcoming account holders into a larger, modern space designed to better support both our communities and our colleagues.

Subject to everything being completed as planned, we’re aiming to open the doors of our new branch on 15th June 2026.

    Why We’re Making This Move

As Northern Community Bank has continued to grow, we’ve simply outgrown our current branch on St James’s Street.

Following the sale of our Nelson branch in January 2025, our Burnley Head Office has become increasingly busy, and it became clear we needed a larger space that would allow us to continue supporting account holders both now and in the future.

Moving to Manchester Road isn’t just about having a bigger building. It’s about creating a better experience for everyone who uses our services.

Our new Burnley branch will allow us to offer:

    • more private spaces for conversations about your accounts
    • a larger, more comfortable chat room for support
    • improved accessibility throughout the branch
    • free Wi-Fi for account holders
    • additional iPads to support digital banking access
    • and a brand-new “Little Savers Corner” for children while parents and guardians speak with our team
    • new training and meeting spaces to support staff development and training
    • dedicated board room and meeting rooms – facilities we haven’t had before, but are very much needed as we grow

These additional spaces are an important part of how we continue to improve, helping us invest in our colleagues and strengthen the support we provide to account holders who manage their accounts online, through our app, or over the phone.

Whether you visit us in branch or contact us from further afield, our commitment stays exactly the same – to support you in a way that feels friendly, simple, and fair.

And just as importantly, while the building is changing, what we stand for isn’t. We’re still the same Community Bank, here to support the same communities in the same way we always have.

A Space Designed for the Future

Our new building has been designed around how we can better support you and our colleagues day-to-day.

The larger space will allow our teams to work more closely together, improve the support we provide, and help us continue developing both our branch and digital banking services side by side.

Speaking about the new branch, CEO Kathryn Fogg said:

“This is going to be a welcoming, purpose-built hub, where new or existing account holders can manage their accounts. With a Little Savers Corner, to occupy our young savers whilst their parents and guardians are dealing with accounts and areas where we can work with partners from the community to co-promote the work we all do.”

    Transforming a Historic Burnley Building

The building itself has a long history in Burnley, and many of you may remember it as:

    • The Brun Lea under Wetherspoon’s
    • Fitzpatrick’s Bar
    • Ellis’s

It’s quite something to see how it’s been transformed from a busy hospitality space into a modern, purpose-built Community Bank headquarters.

The renovation work has been a huge project, and it’s taken time, care, and a lot of coordination to get us to this point.

We worked with Readstone Construction LTD on the redevelopment, which included:

    • safely removing asbestos from the front fascia
    • stripping out the old bar and hospitality areas
    • redesigning layouts across all floors
    • removing internal walls and outdated facilities
    • and creating a modern, accessible working and account holder space

It hasn’t always been straightforward, and there have definitely been challenges along the way, but we’re incredibly proud of what’s been achieved, and grateful to everyone involved in getting us here.

Supporting Account Holders During the Move

As part of the move to our new Burnley branch, we’ll need to transfer some of our systems and servers to the new building.

While there may be some short downtime during the transition, we’re planning carefully to keep disruption to an absolute minimum and expect very little impact to account access and services.

We’ll continue to keep account holders updated throughout the move and share any important information in advance.

    Thank You

This move is a really important step forward for us, but most importantly, it’s about continuing to improve the way we support you.

We’re really grateful for the support, patience, and loyalty you’ve shown us throughout this journey.

We can’t wait to welcome you into our new home and continue building the future of Northern Community Bank together.

  2. Looking for online loans no credit check? Northern Community Bank could help

Searching for online loans no credit check can feel like a lonely place to be. Let’s face it, looking for any type of loan can feel stressful when money is tight. A broken-down car or an emergency vet bill at the worst possible moment can quickly leave you wondering how you are going to cover the cost.
For many people, the worry is not just finding help; it is finding someone you can trust. Searching for online loans no credit check can sometimes feel like going round in circles, especially when so many lenders focus entirely on credit scores and automated decisions.
At Northern Community Bank, we do things differently. We look at the bigger picture and make lending decisions based on affordability, not just numbers on a screen.

Family by name, family by nature

Our £500 Family Loan & Saving Scheme is designed to help with those unexpected costs that always seem to arrive at the wrong time.
The scheme is available to anyone receiving Child Benefit and requires no credit checks. Instead of relying on computer-generated decisions, every application is reviewed by a real person who looks at your income, spending and affordability.
We also believe in being clear about costs from the beginning. A £500 loan repaid at £12 per week over 50 weeks at 42.6% APR would mean total interest of £91.95.
If you do decide to apply, everything can be completed from the comfort of your own home using our online application form or secure mobile app.

How our online loan no credit check can help you build a better credit history and financial future

Northern Community Bank is not just about providing online loans no credit check when things get difficult. We also want to help account holders build stronger financial habits for the future. This is how:

    • We report repayments to credit reference agencies, meaning regular repayments could help improve your credit history over time. For many people, that can open the door to more financial options later down the line.
    • Our Save as you Borrow scheme also helps account holders put money aside while repaying their loan. It means that while you are paying back what you owe, you are also building savings that could help cover future unexpected costs.
    • We also get to know our account holders. If you stick to an agreed repayment plan and manage your account well, we are more likely to lend again should you need support in the future.

    Why your lender matters

Yes, searching for online loans no credit check can feel lonely (not to mention overwhelming). Which is why the lender you choose matters. Northern Community Bank has been helping local communities for more than four decades, supporting people with fair and affordable borrowing when they need it most.
As a not-for-profit organisation, we are not focused on generating profits for shareholders. Instead, we put our account holders first, which helps us offer lower interest rates than many high-cost lenders.
Alongside affordable online loans no credit check, account holders can benefit from free bereavement fund cover on savings and loans, along with the secure mobile app that makes it easy to manage accounts, check balances and send messages at any time.
When life throws unexpected costs your way, Northern Community Bank is a lender you can rely on.

  3. Holiday loan online: get summer-ready with fast, flexible borrowing

Searching for a holiday loan online should not feel like queuing at border control after a six-hour flight. With summer on the horizon, plenty of families are dusting off passports, checking suitcase wheels still work and dreaming about a few days somewhere warmer than the back garden. Whether you have your sights set on sandy beaches or a city break packed with sightseeing, a holiday loan online can help you get plans off the runway sooner.
At Northern Community Bank, we know the cost of holidays can creep up quickly once flights, hotels and spending money enter the picture. That is why we offer affordable borrowing designed to fit around everyday life. From smaller loans to larger borrowing up to £15,000, our holiday loan online options can help spread costs into manageable repayments. So, while you focus on finding the right destination, we can help with the financial side of the journey.

How quick can I get a holiday loan online?

Holiday prices rarely stand still for long. One minute you are browsing deals with a cup of tea, the next the flights have gone up by £200. Having access to funds within 48 hours or sooner can make all the difference when booking your summer escape, giving you the freedom to secure a deal before it disappears.
Our £500 Family Loan & Saving Scheme is ideal for people searching for a holiday loan online with no credit check. Following an affordability assessment, applications can be processed quickly so you can move ahead with booking your break. We assess every application individually, with real people reviewing income and expenditure rather than relying entirely on automated systems.

Does Northern Community Bank offer more than loans?

Northern Community Bank offers more than a holiday loan online. As a not-for-profit community bank, we are focused on supporting local people with fair, affordable financial services that work in the real world. That includes flexible repayment methods, no setup fees and no penalties for paying your loan off early.
We also encourage account holders to save as they borrow, helping build healthy financial habits alongside access to affordable lending. Account holders benefit from free bereavement fund cover on savings and loans, while our secure mobile app makes it easy to check balances or send messages without needing to leave the sun lounger.
From last-minute city breaks to the family holiday everyone has been looking forward to, Northern Community Bank can help you get away without the financial turbulence. And carry on supporting you long after the suitcases are unpacked.

  4. Need a loan? Northern Community Bank has you covered

There are hundreds of reasons you might need a loan. And after more than 40 years supporting our community, we’ve heard just about all of them.
From emergency loans (car MOTs, washing machine breakdowns, unexpected bills) to dream plans (a new car, home improvements, even that long-overdue five-star getaway), whatever your reason for needing a loan, we’re here to help.

5 reasons to choose Northern Community Bank when you need a loan

    1. It’s quick and easy. When you need a loan, you don’t want to jump through hoops. You can apply online, get a decision online, and sign everything from your phone. As long as we’ve got what we need, we’ll usually get back to you within 48 working hours. Once approved, the money can be in your account the same day.
    2. It fits around you. Not everyone’s situation is the same, so why treat it that way? You can borrow up to £15,000 and repay in a way that works for you. That could be from your wages, by standing order, or through benefits. If you need a loan on a smaller scale, there’s also our £500 Family Loan, designed to be simple and accessible.
    3. You’re talking to people, not a computer. When you need a loan, it helps to know someone’s actually listening. Every application is looked at by a real person who takes the time to understand your situation. We focus on what you can realistically afford, not just what a system says.
    4. We’re not here to make a profit off you. We’re a not-for-profit organisation, which means our focus is on doing right by our account holders. If you need a loan, you’ll get a fair deal with any surplus going back into supporting the people we serve.
    5. No hidden costs to catch you out. When you need a loan, clarity (and trust) matters. There are no setup fees and no penalties if you choose to repay early. What you see is what you get, so you can borrow with confidence and stay in control from start to finish.

Build for the future with Northern Community Bank

When you need a loan, it’s usually about solving something in the moment. But we also help you think a bit further ahead.
With our save-as-you-borrow approach, you’ll build up savings alongside your repayments without really noticing. It’s a simple way to create a financial cushion over time, so you’re not starting from zero next time something unexpected comes up.
Whether it’s an emergency cost or something you’ve been planning for, having that pot there makes all the difference. It’s not about big amounts; it’s about getting into a habit that sticks.

  5. Where can I find the best fixed rate savings account?

In an increasingly volatile world, the best fixed rate savings account can bring something we all crave when it comes to our finances: certainty. No surprises, no rollercoaster rates; just steady, predictable growth.
Money might not grow on trees, but with the best fixed rate savings accounts, it can feel pretty close. Simply lock your money away and, in return, it quietly gets to work earning interest while you get on with life. It’s patience for payoff.
The best fixed rate savings options are especially appealing when rates are strong, giving you the chance to secure a solid return before the market shifts again.
That’s exactly why Northern Community Bank’s account was so popular last year. And why we’ve brought it back.

How Northern Community Bank’s fixed rate account works

If you’re searching for the best fixed rate savings account without the usual fuss, Northern Community Bank’s offer is well worth a look. It’s simple and reliable. And it also does a bit of good while it’s at it.
Here’s how it works. You deposit your savings once, then lock them in for a year. So, no touching. In return, you’ll earn a competitive 4% AER on balances between £5,000 and £19,999, or an even stronger 4.5% AER if you’re saving between £20,000 and £120,000; making it a real contender for the best fixed rate savings option for many savers.
It’s a “set it and forget it” kind of deal. Your money gets to work immediately, and you don’t have to lift a finger. On top of that, your savings are protected by the Financial Services Compensation Scheme up to £120,000, so you can relax knowing they’re safe.
What really makes this one stand out in the best fixed rate savings space is the community angle. As a community bank, your savings go directly towards helping other local account holders access affordable loans, keeping money circulating within the community, just as it should. ` It’s what community banks are all about: people helping people.
When the year’s up, you’re back in control. Withdraw, reinvest, or move on. It’s entirely up to you.

More to Northern Community Bank than just great rates

When you’re weighing up the best fixed rate savings accounts, Northern Community Bank offers more than just a strong return. With more than four decades of experience supporting local savers, we’ve built a reputation for doing things properly.
Getting started is simple. You can open an account online in minutes or visit a branch if you’d prefer a more personal approach.
Whether you’re new or already an account holder, you’re good to go. Even better, accounts are completely free to open and run; no hidden fees to worry about.
There’s also a free bereavement fund benefit (subject to terms), offering support when it’s needed most.
And if you ever do have a question, our friendly team is always on hand to help, whether that’s online or face-to-face.

  7. Pack your bags with a cheap holiday loan

Does 2026 already feel like it’s dragging on? If the winter blues are hitting hard, a cheap holiday loan could be just what you need to hit the reset button.

Whether it’s a quick weekend in Blackpool for sea, sand, and salt and vinegar chips, or two weeks in a Caribbean poolside villa with sun, sangria, and perhaps more chips, Northern Community Bank can help make it happen.

For those who need a little extra help covering unexpected holiday costs, our £500 Family Loan & Savings Scheme could be a helpful option. After a simple affordability assessment, applications are usually processed quickly, helping families access support without a long wait. Repayments can be made using your Child Benefit, keeping things straightforward and manageable. There’s also no credit check involved.

If you’re planning something bigger than a short break, Northern Community Bank can also help with a cheap holiday loan for larger trips. With holiday loans available up to £15,000, you can spread the cost of that long-awaited family getaway and focus on enjoying the experience rather than worrying about the upfront expense. Whatever the amount you choose to borrow, you can be assured of competitive interest rates ranging from 12.7% APR to 42.6% APR, calculated on a reducing balance.

    Last-minute getaways made easy

Whether it’s a last-minute deal you’ve spotted or a carefully planned getaway, a holiday loan can be ready in as little as 48 working hours, giving you the freedom to act fast. Each application is assessed individually by a real person, not a computer, so there’s no need to worry about being treated like just another number.

Repayments are tailored to your circumstances, meaning you won’t spend the last day of your holiday worrying about washing, unpacking, or how to cover the loan when you get home. There are no setup fees and no early settlement penalties either.

We also offer free loan quotes, so you can make an informed decision about your finances, take your time, and shop around to find the holiday that’s perfect for you.

With a cheap holiday loan from Northern Community Bank, you can plan the trip that fits your budget and lifestyle without the stress of paying everything upfront.

You can relax with Northern Community Bank

Booking (and packing for) a holiday can be stressful. Organising a loan shouldn’t be. For more than four decades, Northern Community Bank has helped account holders make memories all over the world, from day trips to the seaside to faraway adventures.
As a not-for-profit organisation, we care about your financial wellbeing and your future. That’s why we offer our Save As You Borrow scheme, which helps you build savings while repaying your loan. Often starting from as little as £1 a week, a small, manageable amount is added to your repayments and placed into a savings account.
Over time, this builds a financial cushion that becomes fully accessible once the loan is repaid. It’s a simple way to develop good saving habits while reducing the need to rely on credit in the future.
So while you’re enjoying your holiday in the sun (or in Blackpool), you’ll also be putting something aside for your next adventure.

  8. How to get a car loan that keeps you in the driving seat

If you’ve been spinning your wheels wondering how to get a car loan, you might think the easiest option is the finance deal offered by the dealership. A nice salesperson in a smart suit with a friendly smile, telling you everything you could ever want to hear.  What could possibly go wrong?
Well, those shiny showroom offers don’t always tell the full story. Many start at 12.9% Representative APR, which only has to be offered to 51% of applicants, leaving plenty of drivers paying more than they expected.
At Northern Community Bank, we prefer to keep things clear and simple. The rate we quote you is the rate you pay; every time. For loans over £3,000, our rates can often beat typical dealer finance. And as a not-for-profit organisation, we’re able to charge competitive interest rates without hidden margins.

Keep your finances on track with clear car loan repayments

Our loans are designed to make upgrading your (or buying your first) car feel exciting, not stressful. There’s no looming balloon payment at the end of your agreement, and repayments are clear, tailored, and arranged around your financial circumstances.
Interest is calculated on a decreasing balance, which means you can make extra payments whenever you like to pay off your loan faster and reduce the overall cost. When thinking about how to get a car loan, you’ll be forgiven for checking your rear-view mirror, but with Northern Community Bank, there’s nothing to worry about.
There are no set-up fees, no commission payments, and no hidden extras; just straightforward lending without the small-print surprises that have recently made headlines. Better still, there are no early settlement penalties if you decide to clear the loan ahead of schedule.

Fast loans for the fast lane

After a long winter, struggling cars and weak batteries only become more problematic, and if your current vehicle is unlikely to pass its next MOT or service, speed is of the essence.
Getting a loan with Northern Community Bank could not be easier. Decisions are made quickly and by real people, not computers, so you can expect a response within 48 working hours.
No fancy sales pitches here, though. The process is fast, transparent, and designed with you in mind. You can complete a simple online application from the comfort of your own home, and once approved, manage your account through our secure mobile app and online accounts area, making it quick and easy to stay on top of your repayments.
If you have any questions about how to get a car loan or about any of our loans, do not hesitate to get in touch.

  9. Celebrating £1.1m success at Northern Community Bank’s 44th AGM 2026

Northern Community Bank President Gerard Spain announced that borrowers will be rewarded with a 17% loan interest rebate, while savers will receive a 2.75% share of the profits on eligible savings totalling £1.1 million at the 44th Annual General Meeting (AGM).

The hybrid event saw more than 95 people attend in person and online, while 1,596 account holders watched the 44th AGM via the app.

    A Year of Major Progress

In his Board Report, President Gerard Spain reflected on three significant developments during the year – the rebrand, the new Manchester Road flagship office, and the introduction of our Bereavement Fund.

Speaking about the rebrand, Gerard explained:

“It wasn’t just a name change; it’s actually a whole new way of operating while maintaining the core values.”

He added that the change has already made a visible difference:

“It elevates our profile in the community… it helps people understand the services that we provide and how we can be of help.”

The new Manchester Road office represents a £2.5 million investment and will become our flagship branch, support overall long-term growth while also retaining our presence in Colne town centre.

As the Community Bank has continued to grow, the Manchester Road office will allow teams to work more closely together, strengthening the support available to account holders. This includes expanding capacity for the Account Support Team, who help more than 17,000 account holders from Burnley and Pendle to Preston, Lancaster and across Cumbria manage their accounts with confidence.

Gerard highlighted the recent introduction of the Bereavement Fund:

“As you all know we’ve always provided a free additional benefit to account holders in a sense of loan protection and life savings insurance.”

He explained that a viability study showed that over the past five years, along with other credit unions, we were overpaying in premiums compare to the value of claims, supported the decision to cancel the policy and set up the Bereavement Fund.

“Not only have we been able to retain the same benefits for account holders, but we’ve also managed to improve them. This is seen as a very, very positive move forward for looking after our account holders.”

Gerard also shared the positive financial performance of the Community Bank:

    • Account holders increased to 16,946
    • The loan book grew by 15%
    • Asset value increased by 17% to £24.4 million
    • Surplus rose to £2.5 million
    • Reserves increased to £5.9 million

Reflecting on these figures, he described them as:

“Some staggering numbers for a community organisation.”

He closed by thanking account holders, staff, and board members:

“Without your continued support, we would not have been able to continue to build the way we have. This is a whole team effort.”

Share of the Profits & Loan Interest Rebate

    Account holders voted to approve:

    • A 2.75% Share of the Profits for eligible accounts
    • A 17% loan interest rebate

Maintaining last year’s levels, this decision ensures success is shared fairly with those who save and borrow with us. You can find out more about the share of the profits and loan interest rebate here

    £20,000 Community Donation Approved

One of the highlights of the evening was the approval of a £20,000 community donation, which will be distributed across community centres in the areas we serve.

Development Officer Lee Banks spoke passionately about the proposal, reflecting on visits to local centres:

“It was really heartwarming to see a group of people together in that situation. It became quite obvious from that the importance of our community centres.”

Lee highlighted how many centres operate with very limited financial backing yet provide vital services, from toddler groups and fitness classes to food banks and employment support.

    He concluded:

“These centres have such a wide and varied programme for young and old and all walks of society. I do hope you will support this proposal.”

    Account holders voted in favour.

    Independent Assurance from the Accountants

Mark Heaton of KM Accountants presented the Auditor’s Report and confirmed:

“We have no concerns as external auditors as to the financing of the credit union, or bank, and also the controls that are operated within it.”

    The accounts were formally approved.

    Guest Speakers: Celebrating Community Impact

We were honoured to welcome Councillor Paul Reynolds, Mayor of Burnley, who shared his own long-standing connection with the Community Bank.

“I did join the Credit Union about 30 odd years ago and I’m quite glad I did.”

Reflecting on the rebrand, he said:

“The most striking difference is your rebrand which I think looks fantastic. It’s a very difficult and complex decision to change a well-loved brand, but I can see that it was the right decision.”

The Mayor concluded with a personal note:

“Credit Union personally has helped me through thick and thin.”

Although unable to attend in person, Oliver Ryan MP sent a recorded message, praising the Community Bank’s impact:

“Northern Community Bank do so much good work, not just for account holders but across our entire community.”

    He added:

“The Community Bank is going from strength to strength. I am really proud to have Northern Community Bank operating in Burnley and surrounding areas.”

    A Fitting Close

The 44th AGM concluded with a celebratory raffle, with five lucky attendees each winning a £100 shopping voucher of their choice.

With 1,596 people reviewing the 44th AGM content via the app and strong engagement both in the room and online, it was a powerful reminder of the strength and reach of our Community Bank.

  10. Northern Community Bank believes in loans based on affordability, not credit check scores

It’s a view we wish more trusted lenders shared: loans based on affordability, not credit check scores.

Over the years, we’ve helped hundreds of people who were worried that a less-than-perfect credit history would stop them from getting a loan. It’s stressful enough having a single black mark against your name (whether it’s a missed payment on a bill or another hiccup) without feeling blocked from borrowing.

At Northern Community Bank, we look past that. Instead, we focus on your affordability.

For example, a £500 family loan is available to anyone receiving child benefit, with no credit checks required: just a simple affordability assessment.

For larger loans, we do carry out a credit check, but your application is reviewed by a real person, not a computer, ensuring your circumstances are understood and considered fairly.

3 ways we can help you build a better credit history

    • Reporting repayments to the credit reference agency. Every repayment you make on your loan is reported back to the credit reference agencies. This means your responsible borrowing is recorded and can improve your credit history over time, helping you demonstrate reliability to future lenders.
    • Helping you stick to a repayment or savings schedule. We support our account holders in keeping up with their repayment or savings plans. By following a consistent schedule, you not only develop stronger financial habits but also increase your chances of being approved for future loans, should you need them.
    • Building savings as you borrow. Our Save as You Borrow scheme allows you to grow your savings while repaying your loan. This means that as you work toward improving your credit, you’re also preparing for unexpected expenses, creating a safety net for the future. Savings are protected by the FSCS up to £120,000

What else does Northern Community Bank offer?

It’s not just loans based on affordability, not credit checks, that we believe in. Everything we do is built around one simple idea: fairer finance for everyone.

And that starts with how we’re run. As a not-for-profit organisation, we’re able to offer much lower interest rates than you’re likely to find elsewhere.

Lower. Definitely not slower. We pride ourselves on making fast decisions, because when money’s concerned, time is usually of the essence. You’ll normally get a decision within 48 working hours once we have all the information we need. If you’re successful, we can even make a same-day BACS payment.

There are no hidden fees, no set-up fees, no early repayment penalties on loan, no stress.  We also offer a free bereavement fund benefit on savings and loans, subject to T&Cs.

And you can manage everything through our secure mobile app, making it easy to stay in control of your account.

So if you’re looking for finance that’s fair, fast and flexible (including loans based on affordability, not credit check) contact us today.

  11. Northern Community Bank is the best way to borrow for home improvements

The best way to borrow for home improvements is to use a lender who won’t paper over the cracks.

Spring is just around the corner, which means the big clean-up is nearly here. And with it, a growing list of home improvements.

Maybe it’s a bit of TLC. Maybe it’s a lot of DIY. Maybe you want to upgrade your kitchen appliances, refresh a tired room, or finally tackle that overgrown garden.

Whether you’re giving your home a simple lick of paint or going for a full transformation, if you need to borrow to make it happen, you want a lender who builds relationships, not trapdoors.

That’s why Northern Community Bank is the best way to borrow for home improvements.

Why Northern Community Bank is the best way to borrow for home improvements

Northern Community Bank is a not-for-profit organisation. That means there are no fat-cat shareholders skimming off the top.

Instead, the money we make goes straight back into the community and into supporting our account holders.

For you, that means one big thing: lower interest rates than you’re likely to find anywhere else. Something just as important: your loan is assessed by real people, not computers.

It’s no secret that some lenders take advantage of vulnerable borrowers. We don’t. We take the time to understand your situation and work with you to find a repayment plan that fits your financial circumstances, letting you spread the cost in a way that feels manageable and realistic.

We also know that when you’re planning home improvements, timing matters. That’s why we make fast decisions; usually within 48 working hours once we’ve got all the information we need. And if you’re approved, we can release your funds by BACS the very same day.

    Building for the future

We’re not just the best way to borrow for home improvements. We’re one of the best ways to save too. For home improvements. For a new car. For a summer holiday. We help you build good financial habits alongside your loan.

All our account holders save regularly while they’re making repayments. That means you’re not just paying something off; you’re also building up a pot for the future. Something you can rely on when the unexpected comes along. Over time that helps build better spending (and saving) habits.

So, when spring rolls around and that DIY list starts calling your name, you’ll have a solid foundation to build from.

  12. It’s never too early to start thinking about the best Christmas savings account

When’s the best time to start thinking about a Christmas savings account? Right now.

The festive season may only just be over – yes, that means you probably shouldn’t still be eating chocolate for breakfast – but Christmas 2026 will be here before you know it. And we all know just how expensive that time of year can be.

That’s why starting early with the right, or even better, the best Christmas savings account can really take the pressure off when December rolls around. Spreading the cost across the year means fewer financial headaches and more room to actually enjoy the festive period.

The numbers speak for themselves. Save just £3 a week and you’ll have over £150 ready for Christmas. Save £15 a week and you could build a pot of more than £750. That’s a lot of chocolate…or even better, presents.

A little saved regularly now really can make a big difference later.

Does Northern Community Bank offer the best Christmas savings account?

“Northern Community Bank helped me to save without even noticing it. I have long-term savings and a Christmas savings with them and find it a great incentive to do as I can only withdraw the Christmas one between November & December which means it’s a great savings that actually builds in value every month.” – Account holder feedback.

That is one of more than 3,500 people who have already opened a Northern Christmas Savings Account, with over £760,000 deposited so far.

The best Christmas savings account is one that strikes the right balance between flexibility and discipline, allowing you to save comfortably, while ensuring the money is genuinely set aside for Christmas.

Northern Community Bank’s Christmas Savings Account was created in direct response to feedback from account holders who wanted a dedicated way to save for the festive season, without the temptation to dip in early or being tied to high-street voucher schemes.

Unlike many other Christmas savings schemes, the money you save with us, which is protected by the FSCS up to £120,000, can be spent wherever you choose, with no restrictions on where or how you shop.

Withdrawals are only allowed during November and December, helping ensure the money you put aside is used for the festive period rather than accessed throughout the year.

On top of this, the account is free to open and can be set up at any point in the year, making it easy to start saving whenever it suits you.
