If you live in Burnley or the surrounding areas then Northern Community Bank is your local community bank. As our account holders already know, this means that we enable them to save and we also lend money in an ethical, not for profit manner. As a local community bank we like to play a part in improving the local community and the lives of the people living in it. That means that any money we do make is put back in the community, either through our loans, our savings.

Being an ethical lender means that we can offer loans at the lowest possible interest rate. It also means that we offer the exact same rate to all of our account holders, unlike some lenders who advertise an appealing headline rate but then only make this available to a limited number of borrowers. Another bonus of dealing with a local credit union like Northern Community Bank is the no nonsense way in which we work. Our loans come without any hidden fees or extra charges, and we’ll only ever lend an amount which we believe you can comfortably afford to pay back. We’ll reach a decision on every application as quickly as possible and, if the loan is approved, the money you need will be transferred straight to your account.

One more aspect of being a local community bank is that we like to get involved in special times of the year like Christmas. As well as lending the money you might need to enjoy Christmas, we like to point our account holders in the direction of some of the fantastic things happening in the local community this Christmas. So far we’ve spotted the following:

  • Take the kids along to the magical Christmas Grotto at Charter Walk Shopping Centre in the heart of Burnley. As well as the chance to explore a stunning winter wonderland they’ll also get to meet Father Christmas and receive a personal gift.
  • In Burnley as a whole the shops will be staying open for late night shopping every Thursday in December, so if you’re worrying about how to fit Christmas gift buying around a busy working life, this could be your answer.
  • Feeling energetic this Christmas? Why not take part in the Burnley Christmas Cracker, a 2 and 4 mile road race which takes place on Christmas Eve itself. The race is over a specially chosen course of closed off roads, and it finishes and ends in the leafy surroundings of Towneley Park. Entrants have the option of wearing a free Santa hat as they run as well as receiving a Christmas chocolate medal. Because it’s the season of goodwill, the organisers will also be donating items to the food bank operated by Spacious Place Engage on behalf of everyone who enters.

Those are just a few of the exciting things happening in and around Burnley this Christmas. If you’re worrying about how you can afford to pay for all the fun then please get in touch with us to enquire about an affordable, low interest Christmas loan. As a local credit union we want to spread as much good cheer as possible.
