I am happy to see Northern Community Bank on Burnley’s high street, it is good for the town and its people to be able to access much needed services

Northern Community Bank President Gerard Spain welcomed Councillor Briggs and outlined the community bank’s long term commitment to the residents of Burnley

At a time when some businesses and banks are vacating the high street, by opening this branch we are telling the community that Northern Community Bank are committed to providing saving and borrowing facilities to Burnley and Pendle for many years

The new branch has been totally renovated to include a private interview room and cashier desks for account holders to deposit and withdraw. At a time when local people are experiencing low wages or worrying about the expensive Christmas period it is good know the community banks are here to help.

Amongst the large number of attendees were figures from the UK community banks movement. Karen Bennett, President of ABCUL the main trade association for community banks in Britain, gave a speech offering support from the association as well as sharing experience from Enterprise Community Banks in Liverpool where she is the Chief Executive Officer
