  1. How Northern Community Bank’s small loans can make a big difference to your finances

Small loans are designed to be a quick and simple solution for people who find themselves in a tight financial spot. But just how important is the lender you choose? The short answer is, very. The long answer, we’ll get to that a little later in the blog.

First of all though, let’s take a quick look at why small loans can play such an important role in our lives. A broken down car. An oven on the blink. An out-of-the-blue bill. Unfortunately, unexpected expenses are part and parcel of life. Annoyances at the best of the times. But in the midst of a full-blown cost-of-living crisis; a very real and very genuine concern for a lot of under pressure households. Small loans can help ease that pressure. A quick fix for a financial shortfall. That quick fix only remains a quick fix though if you choose the right lender.

Traditionally, applying for a loan, even small loans, is fraught with difficulties, stress and worry. Financial panic can lead to rash decisions being made; decisions that can leave you far worse off in the long run, even if in the short term, that initial expense is dealt with. Payday lenders are renowned for their ability to process applications in a speedy manner. That convenience though comes at a steep price, with exorbitant interest rates often trapping people in a cycle of debt. On top of that, payday lenders can hit borrowers with crippling fees if loans are not repaid on time or in full.

Northern Community Bank offers the best of both worlds. Loan decisions within 48 working hours – provided we have received all the necessary information – and interest rates that are extremely competitive rather than eye-wateringly excessive. No hidden fees, no sneaky charges, no stress.

Can I borrow a little more if needed?

Eyeing up that family holiday abroad this summer? Or maybe the time has come to make a start on extending the house. Northern Community Bank offers loans of up to £15,000; each loan – regardless of size – handled in the same, highly ethical manner as everything else we do. The interest rate you see advertised will be the rate you receive, not some clever marketing ploy to attract custom. And we never let our account holders borrow more than they can comfortably pay back, instead working with them to arrange convenient repayment plans tailored to their financial circumstances. You can try our handy loan calculator below.

The simple reason for this – we’re not here to make money. Northern Community Bank is an ethical not-for-profit organisation that serves the local community, not shareholders. From small loans and Christmas Clubs, to large loans and saving accounts, our staff are here to support you.

  2. How Northern Community Bank can give you the keys to car finance freedom

How Northern Community Bank can give you the keys to car finance freedom

Trying to get the best car finance deal can sometimes feel like driving without a sat nav. You know where you want to go, but the journey’s stressful, filled with wrong turns, and usually ends up costing more than you bargained for. For most people, buying a new, or used, car is an exciting time. That is until they hit a car finance pothole.

The vast majority of the UK population pays for its cars through Personal Contract Purchase (PCP) deals issued by car dealerships. What this basically means is consumers rent a car over a three or four-year period. At the end of that period, they have three options:

    1. Buy the vehicle for its residual value (referred to as a “balloon” payment)
    2. Hand the car back
    3. Roll over the residual value into a new PCP on a new vehicle

Sounds good. Until you read about the investigations carried out by the Financial Conduct Authority, and how hundreds of thousands of drivers across the UK have been secretly overcharged by car salesmen looking to pocket extra commission; a fact that goes some way to explaining the high interest rates that tend to come with car finance deals.

Northern Community Bank puts the loan applicant in the driving seat

Northern Community Bank is here to make car loans as simple as possible. No fancy sales speak. No sneaky commission. No pressure.

We take pride in being upfront and honest with our account holders. That’s why you’ll never hear us saying, ‘We guarantee our interest rates will be better than their interest rates’ or ‘We guarantee we’ll beat whatever deal they’re offering’. All we ask is that you consider us when on the hunt for a car finance deal. Because what we do guarantee is highly competitive interest rates, and a promise that the interest rate you see advertised is the one you will receive.

Northern Community Bank takes customer service up a gear

A Northern Community Bank loan means you can buy your car outright, which means you have the option to do whatever you wish with your new wheels. Upgrade, sell, modify, or keep for as long as you want.

But that’s not the only benefit to setting out on the Northern Community Bank journey. Each application is assessed individually by a person and not a computer. We look at affordability, income and expenditure, and only lend amounts we are confident you can afford to pay back.

And the entire process – provided we have all the information we require – will be finished in 0 – 48 (hours). You don’t even have to set foot in one of our showrooms. Everything can be done online, with our friendly and knowledgeable staff right there in the passenger seat ready to help guide the way.

  3. When’s the best time to open a Northern Community Bank Christmas savings account? Right now!

Christmas may be over, but it’s never too early to start thinking about a Christmas savings account.
The tree’s down, the diet’s in full swing, and you’re safe from Wham ‘Last Christmas’ for at least another 300 days.
It won’t be long before those jingle bells are ringing once again though. Which means it won’t be long before your financial alarm bells are sounding either.
We all know Christmas is the most wonderful (expensive) time of year. So, why do so many of us leave it until November before even thinking about the cost?
Putting away money throughout the year can spread the financial burden of the festive season, leaving us to do what we do best come December – relax, watch Christmas films and eat mince pies.
So, we know it’s only January, but we wanted to give you one of your presents extra early this year; the Northern Community Bank Christmas savings account.

What is a Northern Community Bank Christmas savings account?

Northern Community Bank’s Christmas Savings Account allows you to save throughout the year, with withdrawals only possible during November and December.
The Christmas savings account was designed to meet the needs of account holders who told Northern Community Bank that they wanted to save ahead of the expensive festive period but found it hard when other unexpected bills appeared.
And, without blowing our own trumpet too loudly, it’s been a resounding success. In fact, more than 1,500 account holders have now opened a Christmas Club savings account, with deposits totalling £340,000.
This is what one happy saver had to say: “Thank you so much. It has saved my Christmas, and peace of mind for next year, by opening a savings account. It’s easy, affordable payments, with friendly staff who talk you through everything. It’s brilliant.”
Saving just £3 per week means you will have more than £150 to spend at Christmas. Up that to £15 a week, and you could have £750 saved. That’s a lot of mince pies. And unlike other Christmas savings schemes, there are no restrictions on where to shop, so you can spend your money wherever you wish. You can also join at any point in the year.

Your money is safe with Northern Community Bank

Northern Community Bank is part of the Financial Services Compensation Scheme, which protects your deposits up to £120,000.
On top of this, all Northern Community Bank savings are covered by a free bereavement fund benefit, so that in the event of your untimely death your shares would be given, with the fund amount, to your nominated person.
If you have any questions or would like to talk through any of Northern Community Bank’s other services, please don’t hesitate to contact us on 01282 691333. Our friendly and experienced staff are always on hand to help with any queries.

  4. Feeling the pinch after a costly Christmas? Short-term loans aren’t necessarily the answer.

Applying for short-term loans in January is almost as popular as applying for a new gym membership.
But while the latter may be good for your health (if you go), the former could see you weighed down with even more financial worry.
It’s no surprise that short-term loans are almost a new year tradition in some households.
The food, the presents, the parties; the horror, when you finally build up the courage to look at your bank balance.
First things first, “Don’t panic.” You’re not alone.
Overspending at Christmas is extremely common. ‘Tis the season to be jolly after all.
What you need now is a plan of action, so you can get yourself back on track. And ready for some summer fun.
The temptation for many is to look to short-terms loans in order to aid this recovery. But short-term quick ‘fixes’ can often lead to long-term financial difficulties.

Why are short-term loans so potentially dangerous?

It’s not necessarily the length of the loan that’s the issue, more the reputation of the lender.
Short-term loans from payday lenders usually come with the unenviable combination of high interest rates and unaffordable monthly repayments.
When you’re trying to dig yourself out of a hole, they keep throwing soil at you.
Northern Community Bank doesn’t look at loan repayments like this. We’re here to give you a helping hand. To offer solutions to your current situation, not push you further into debt.
We challenge you to find a short-term lender that has a cheaper interest rate than what Northern Community Bank has to offer.
As an ethical alternative we’re not here to make profit, we’re here to help our account holders.
That’s why our repayments are tailored to suit your financial circumstances, allowing you to spread the cost over a manageable period.
That’s why if you wish to make any extra payments at any time, a Northern Community Bank loan has no early settlement or overpayments fees.
And, most importantly, that’s why we want to give you the tools and knowledge to best manage your finances to stop these problems appearing in the first place.

When should I start planning for next Christmas?

One of the easiest ways to avoid overspending is to sit down before you start your Christmas shopping and work out a budget that you’ll stick to.
At Northern Community Bank, we actually recommend putting a plan in place earlier than that.
All account holders are required to regularly save alongside making loan repayments, meaning they have a pot put aside should they need it in the future.
This creates better saving habits while also reducing the need to borrow.
For those wanting to go that little bit further, our Christmas Savings Account is a cracker of an option.
This enables you to save throughout the year, but only make withdrawals during November and December.
You can join at any point, and depending on how much you put away, it could make managing your finances over the festive period a whole lot easier.
For more information on our Christmas savings account or advice on short-term loans, contact us on 01282 691333.

  5. Why is Northern Community Bank the place to come for Christmas loans for bad credit?

Surely you know all about Northern Community Bank’s Christmas loans by now? But what about Christmas loans for bad credit?
Having bad credit is like having a dark cloud constantly hanging over your finances. At Christmas, that dark cloud can look heavier than ever.
Festive celebrations don’t come cheap – presents, food, parties, more food. No matter how much we try to stop costs from spiralling out of control, there’s always one more gift, one more night out, one more person coming round for Christmas dinner.
And that’s absolutely fine. There’s no harm in getting wrapped up in the spirit of Christmas after all.
But while people on the nice credit list won’t have a problem securing a loan to help with any last minute costs, those on the naughty list may find it a tad more difficult borrowing from lenders.
Before we go into how Northern Community Bank can help with Christmas loans for bad credit, here are a few credit score pointers to help get you back on the right track.

5 ways to improve your credit score

    1. Pay bills on time. Late or missed payments are a sure-fire way of sending your credit score plummeting. In contrast, keeping your finances under control shows lenders you can be trusted making repayments. Make a list of every bill you have, so you know who, when and how much you have to pay. Then put a bill payment plan in place – whether it’s a calendar reminder, setting up automatic payments or a post-it on the fridge; whatever works for you. This will hopefully help you settle into a routine, and make missed payments a thing of the past.

    2. Perform regular credit checks. Credit reports contain an awful lot of information on you. And so it’s not unusual for errors to be present within this data. Carrying out regular checks – perhaps annually or before a major application – can help you identify potential issues, giving you a chance to rectify them before they damage an application. You can check your credit file for free by clicking here.

    3. Keep your address up to date. Making sure your current address appears on your credit report is extremely important with regards to ratings. A good way to do this is registering on the electoral roll as soon as you move in.

    4. Minimise credit applications. Every time you apply for a product, it leaves a footprint on your credit file. The more applications – especially over a short space of time – the bigger the footprint. This puts a lot of people between a rock and a hard place, because obviously each time a person’s application gets rejected (or they don’t get the rate they were expecting) they’re going to want to apply again…and again. Free eligibility calculators are a handy way of finding out what your odds of acceptance are without doing harm to your rating.

    5. Break financial links. If you have a joint bank account, or another form of joint borrowing, the other person’s credit report and score can affect your own. Ending this financial association could see you boost your own score within a matter of weeks.

How can Northern Community Bank help with Christmas loans for bad credit?

    Glad you asked.
When dealing with Christmas loans for bad credit, Northern Community Bank takes a big picture approach.
Unlike many credit providers we don’t use a computer to make a decision; all our loan decisions are made by people.
That’s because we understand how easy it is for credit reports to attract black marks. Instead of judging a person’s loan suitability on nothing more than a number, our staff look at a person’s affordability i.e. how much they have coming in, going out.
Our popular £500 Family Loan & Saving Scheme also allows you to borrow – with no credit check, just an affordability assessment – and use your child benefits to make repayments, while building up a nice little savings pot.
    Where do you start?
Well, we know how busy everyone is at this time of year, so you may be glad to know you don’t even need to set foot in a branch to sort out an application. The whole process can be done online, either through our Online Accounts Area or via the secure Northern Community Bank app.
And while you may not need to come into one of our branches, that doesn’t mean our friendly and knowledgeable staff won’t be there to help. Just ring 01282 691333.

  6. Northern Community Bank last minute Christmas loans are the perfect stocking filler

Last minute Christmas loans aren’t exactly everybody’s idea of fun, which is why Northern Community Bank is here to help anyone who needs a financial festive pick-me-up.
If last minute Christmas shopping was a winter Olympic sport, we’re pretty sure a few of you out there would be in the running for a gold medal.
Frantic festive spenders are as common as mince pies come Christmas time, but the prospect of having to cover these eleventh-hour costs is definitely not as mouth-watering.
Northern Community Bank has been serving up affordable last minute Christmas loans to in-need families for decades now. Here are some of the main reasons people could need one this festive period.

4 main reasons people need last minute Christmas loans

    1. Presents. Seeing the smiles on our loved ones’ faces as they open their gifts on Christmas morning is just one of the things that makes Christmas oh so special. Leaving it to the last minute, or realising your budget isn’t going to stretch as far as you thought it would, is what makes it oh so stressful. According to research carried out by finder.com, the average UK adult will spend £430 on Christmas gifts in 2022, down £119 (22%) from 2021’s budget amid the cost-of-living crisis. A last-minute Christmas loan could help give your budget a big boost before the big day.

    2. Travel. For some, Christmas can be a little overwhelming. If that’s the case for you, it could be worth catching a lift on Santa’s sleigh. How does Boxing Day in Barbados sound, or New Year’s in New York? Holidays over the holiday season are a great way to rest, relax and recharge. Unfortunately, they don’t come cheap.

    3. Christmas dinner. Rising inflation means rising food costs…and not even our roast potatoes are safe. A traditional Christmas dinner has risen three times faster than wages this year, according to research from the Trades Union Congress. Christmas staples such as a turkey, carrots and roast potatoes have risen in price by an average of 18%, while wages have gone up by only 5.7%. So, whatever you’ve budgeted for Christmas dinner this year, you’re probably going to need to double it.

    4. Electricity and gas. On top of our food bills being at an all-time high, the cost of cooking Christmas dinner will be much more expensive than last year as well thanks to soaring energy prices. Electricity and gas prices jumped by 66% and 129% respectively in the 12 months to October 2022, according to the latest Office for National Statistics data. It may be a case of less Christmas lights, more Christmas jumpers this year.

Why Northern Community Bank’s last minute Christmas loans are a festive family favourite?

Northern Community Bank provides loans right up until Christmas Eve and into the New Year; a service thousands of local people have benefitted from over the past four decades.
While we can’t prevent a mulled wine headache over the holiday season, we can help you avoid a financial one come January by spreading the cost of Christmas over a longer period of time.
We do this by ensuring each and every repayment plan is based on an individual’s financial circumstances, meaning they should never feel overstretched.
Northern Community Bank can provide both small and larger loans to suit all requirements. If you want to pay it off sooner rather than later, no problem. There’s no early settlement fees or hidden charges.
Speak to our team today for more information on last minute Christmas loans.
And if we don’t hear from you, have yourself a very merry Christmas and a happy New Year.

  7. Make your money go further with a pay weekly Christmas loan from Northern Community Bank

A Northern Community Bank pay weekly Christmas loan could be just the stocking filler you’ve been looking for this festive season.
    Here’s why.
From parties to mountains of presents under the tree, the cost of Christmas can be a frightening prospect for families. Forget ‘I’m A Celebrity Get Me Out of Here’, come December, there’s plenty of us thinking ‘I’m A Parent Get Me Out of Here’.
That’s because unless you’ve been sticking to a strict budget since the summer – or you’ve been given £400,000 to hang out with Ant and Dec in the Australian outback – there’s a good chance ‘present pressure’ will soon be mounting.
Factor in rising energy bills, soaring inflation, and skyrocketing interest rates, and it won’t be long before your stress levels are following a similar course.
Before you go driving up the wall for Christmas though, why not come to Northern Community Bank for some pay weekly Christmas loan advice?

How will a pay weekly Christmas loan help me?

A pay weekly Christmas loan could be the difference between a very merry Christmas, and a bah humbug holiday.
Hundreds of local people borrow money from Northern Community Bank for Christmas every year to fund their festivities.
Maybe you’ve underestimated just how much Christmas dinner is going to cost, or you’ve been invited out to yet another party. Maybe you just want to treat your loved ones to the best Christmas ever.
Whatever the reason, a Northern Community Bank pay weekly Christmas loan is here to help.
ou can borrow as little or as much as you like. And as repayments will be based on your affordability, you won’t be spending January onwards overstretched and overstressed.
We understand that everyone’s circumstances are different, which is why we offer a pay weekly option. If this makes budgeting easier for you, then brilliant. If not, then there’s always other options we can explore.
And, if you want to repay early, unlike with other lenders, you won’t be charged a penny extra.

Why is Northern Community Bank so many people’s Christmas number one?

As a not-for-profit financial co-operative, we’re not interested in making money for ourselves. We’d much rather see you save yours.
Northern Community Bank has been serving members of the community for four decades now. During that time we’ve always had one primary goal – helping account holders provide a better future, not just for themselves, but their families, their children, and their grandchildren.
Offering an affordable pay weekly Christmas loan to those who need it is just one of the many ways we do this.
Another way is through our ‘Save As You Borrow’ scheme, where a small portion of each repayment is added to a special savings account.
This means that once you’ve finished paying off your loan, there’ll be a nice, small lump sum waiting for you. All ready to help take the pressure off next year’s Christmas.
Apply online today, or ring 01282 691333, to speak to one of our staff if you would like more information.

  8. Apply for a Northern Community Bank Christmas loan from the comfort of your own home

There’s two very good reasons why ‘Christmas loan’ is now searched for more than ever at this time of year.
First of all, our beautiful little elves.
Christmas is a magical time for all the family. It’s an opportunity to reconnect with loved ones, to reflect on the last 12 months, and, of course, to eat as much food as possible.
But for children, it’s even more special; a chance for them to finally get their hands on all those toys they’ve been patiently waiting and wishing for.
Playstation 5s, Lego, Jiggly Pets, a Disney Princess Enchanted Princess Castle Playset. We don’t need a calculator to work out that fulfilling these wishes can quickly turn our bank balances redder than Rudolf’s nose. A cost that – second reason here – is getting ever harder to budget for.
The cost-of-living crisis is gripping the UK tighter than the chilly embrace of Jack Frost is right now. And that grip doesn’t look like it’s going to be loosening anytime soon.
Which is why a ‘Christmas loan’ could be more important than ever this year.

What is a Northern Community Bank Christmas loan?

We want the festive period to be filled with happy memories, not financial stress, and worry.
A Northern Community Bank Christmas loan helps do just that, spreading the joy of Christmas by spreading the cost of Christmas.
Whereas other lenders may turn you down because of less than perfect credit, or leave you battling extremely high interest rates, Northern Community Bank offers competitive rates, coupled with repayments specially tailored to suit your financial circumstances.
On top of this, we provide both small and larger loans to suit everybody’s Christmas.
Take our £500 Family Loan scheme, which lets you borrow for family expenses (there’s nothing more ‘family’ than Christmas) and use your Child Benefit for the repayments. We assess affordability with no credit check and provide account holders an opportunity to build savings.
We know what you’re thinking – what’s the catch?
here isn’t one. You don’t even need to leave the comfort of your own home.

How do I apply for a Northern Community Bank Christmas loan?

Applying for a Northern Community Bank Christmas loan has never been easier.
The whole process can be done online, either through our Online Accounts Area or via the secure Northern Community Bank app.
You can also send us bank statements, if required, through the members area, or through Open Banking.
Once your application has been submitted, we’re committed to processing it as quickly as possible. We’re not quite Father Christmas on Christmas Eve fast, but we aim to reach a decision within 24 – 48 working hours, as long as all the information we need has been provided. If your application is successful, we can then make a same day BACS payment.
There are no hidden fees, no surprise charges, and no early payment penalty fees, meaning you can pay off your loan whenever you wish, and get started saving for next Christmas.
And if you want to speak to us about anything, just ring 01282 691333. One of our friendly and experienced staff will be more than happy to help.

  9. Northern Community Bank 12 months in Cumbria – account holder feedback 2022

It’s hard to believe that in September 2022 we celebrated 12 months since the merger with Affinity Community Bank and Northern Community Bank’s expansion into Cumbria, and in the first 12 months we are delighted to have welcomed 1660 new account holders.

We thought this would be the perfect opportunity to collect the thoughts and opinions of our Cumbrian membership to see after 12 months what is going well, and what areas, if any, could improve on.

Here are just a few of the results from the survey:

    • 95% of Cumbrian account holders are happy with the service that Northern Community Bank provide
    • 95% of Cumbrian account holders would also recommend us to their friends
    • 96% of Cumbrian account holders feel comfortable borrowing and saving with Northern Community Bank
    • 96% of Cumbrian account holders would rate our service 4 stars or above out of 5. This gave us an average rating of 4.7 out of 5!

We also received very useful feedback

    Positive

We asked Cumbrian account holders what we do well, the larger the word the more times it has been mentioned.

    Positive feedback comments

Overall, the majority of responses to the survey were positive but the survey also gave us valuable insights into some of the issues that Cumbrian account holders have been facing.

Prior to the merger, Affinity Credit Union had already closed a number of branches and recognised to service more residents across the county of Cumbria they needed to expand digital channels. Since the merger we have more than doubled the number of people accessing credit union services across the county through telephone banking 5 days a week, secure app and 24/7 online Member Area where account holders can interact in their own time.

When surveyed about the preferred way to communicate with Northern Community Bank 45% of Cumbrian account holders prefer to use the Nivo app to transact with Northern Community Bank . 29% of account holders prefer to use the telephone, while an equal split use the online accounts area and email. 7% of Cumbrian account holders would still prefer to use a branch to transact.

When the merger took place we tried to inform Cumbrian account holders of the best ways to transact via both email and letter however we understand from feedback that account holders want more direction. This page explains the different ways to transact

Prior to the merger and in the first 12 months since Northern Community Bank has operated in Cumbria we have continuously evaluated the possibility of branches. The county of Cumbria includes 6 districts, the question is where the branches would be located and how would that benefit the Cumbrian membership. To operate a branch three members of staff are needed to provide the high level of service that members deserve, that would mean up to 18 members of additional staff. If Northern Community Bank opened a branch in one area, for example the West of the county, how would that benefit account holders on the East coast or in the South of the county.

    Summing-up

The Northern Community Bank Board and Staff have been thrilled to welcome Cumbrian members into our credit union family. Through the growth in membership over the 12 months and feedback, both in conversation and the survey we can see that we provide a much needed service to the community.

  10. If you’re searching for direct lender Christmas loans, then look no further

On the first day of Christmas, my true love gave to me, a… Christmas loans direct lender.
Well, a partridge in a pear tree isn’t going to cover all those presents, or the new outfit you’ve had your eye on for Christmas day, or a table full of turkey.
It doesn’t matter how often we put in place a festive budget; the cost of Christmas always has a nasty habit of surpassing even the most extravagant of expectations.
We all want the festive period to be filled with merriment and magic, but what do we do when our bank balances start becoming more stretched than a Boxing Day waistband?
Christmas loans can be an ideal stocking filler when it comes to covering the cost of the holiday season. The trick is finding a lender who isn’t on Santa’s naughty list!

Why Northern Community Bank is the perfect Christmas loans direct lender

What exactly is a direct lender? We’re glad you asked.
Direct lending is pretty much as it says on the tin. A customer applies for a loan with a lender and receives approval from said lender.
With an indirect loan, the lender has no direct relationship with the borrower. Instead, the process is carried out by a broker (middleman), who after obtaining your details will search their database looking for a lender that best matches your requirements.
A Christmas loans direct lender – like Northern Community Bank – has numerous advantages when compared to these third-party lenders. The main one being the simplicity of the entire experience. You know who you’re dealing with from the outset. Also the process is generally a lot quicker, and there’s usually a greater deal of flexibility.
No broker also means no broker fees.
Northern Community Bank’s highly competitive rates of interest allow you to spread the cost of Christmas over a longer, more affordable period.
And once the loan is signed, you should have the money in your account the same day. Ideal for you last-minute shoppers.

Can I still get a Christmas loan with bad credit?

Northern Community Bank does not offer different interest rates on loans purely based on your credit history.
That’s because it’s perfectly normal for people to have had issues with bad credit in the past. By carefully assessing each applicant’s personal circumstances, we’re able to make loan decisions based on affordability (not just a credit score).
January’s tough enough. The last thing we want is for you to be packing away your decorations worrying about how you are going to make your monthly repayments. This is why we ensure they are tailored to meet your circumstances.
There’s also no early payment penalty fees, meaning you can pay off your loan whenever you want, and get started saving for next Christmas.
Christmas is a time for giving, but it’s also a time for taking; taking care of your finances, so you can continue taking care of your loved ones.
As a Christmas loans direct lender, Northern Community Bank takes great pride in helping our community do just that. Speak to us today for more information.

  11. Easy loans are easy to come by at Northern Community Bank

Access to easy loans is rarely as easy as 123.
In fact, if we had a penny for every time we heard ‘Why is it so difficult to get a loan?’ we’d be called Northern Community Bank.
At Northern Community Bank, we pride ourselves on being able to deliver the best possible service for easy loans.
As one account holder puts it: “It is easy to apply and is handy for essential items needed for families. Friendly service; more than happy to help with enquiries.”
For many, loans are a necessity. They can help to pay for life’s little expenses, Christmas, holidays, home improvements.
It’s our job to provide these little expenses with as little fuss as possible.

Four reasons why Northern Community Bank’s loans are the easiest

    1. You don’t need to visit a branch. Apply online, decision online, sign online. It really is as simple as that. We love seeing our account holders face to face, but we understand this isn’t always possible. With our secure Nivo app, easy loan online applications can even be completed and signed for from your phone.

    2. Loan repayments. These can be made in a number of ways – standing order, through a direct benefit payment (child benefit, tax credits, Community Bank), straight from your wage through our payroll deduction scheme, or card payment; whichever way is easiest for you.

    3. We don’t rely solely on credit checks. While we will look at an applicant’s credit history, each and every application that comes to us is assessed individually by a real person, not a computer. This means we will take into account a person’s full financial profile before making a decision. Our £500 family loan and saving scheme, available to anyone in receipt of child benefit, does not require a credit check.

    4. Friendly staff. Taking out a loan can be a stressful experience, especially if it’s your first time applying. Our staff are there with you from start to finish, ready to provide help or guidance when required. If you already have a loan somewhere else, they will happily carry out a short calculation to see whether you are better off switching to Northern Community Bank.

Do easy loans come with high interest rates?

The easier the loan, the higher the interest rate must be, right? Not at all.
Unlike payday lenders, Northern Community Bank offers competitive interest rates, coupled with repayments specially tailored to suit your financial circumstances.
We also operate on a not-for-profit basis. This means that our priority is you; not shareholders or directors, just you, your family and the community we all live in.
Access to easy loans is just one of the many services we offer our account holders. If you would like to learn more about how Northern Community Bank’s affordable loans are helping an increasing number of families, please give us a call on 01282 691333 or visit the loan page on our website.

  12. Northern Community Bank’s Christmas loans on benefits are a festive family lifesaver

Have you ever struggled getting ‘Christmas loans on benefits’? Northern Community Bank could have the answer you’re looking for.
According to the Bank of England the average household spends more than £700 in December compared to other months.
    And why shouldn’t we?
Christmas is – look away Grinches – undoubtedly the most magical time of the year.
Mountains of presents, time spent with family and friends, chocolate morning, noon and night.
    What’s not to love?
Well, forking out that extra £700 can certainly pile on the festive pressure; especially for the millions of people across the UK claiming benefits. With inflation heading in only one direction at the minute, this winter could be one of the toughest on record.
Northern Community Bank’s ‘Christmas loans on benefits‘ are here to help relieve some of that pressure  so you and your family can still enjoy a Christmas to remember.

How do Northern Community Bank’s Christmas loans on benefits work?

With Christmas just around the corner and letters to Santa already being penned – the temptation to meet costs by taking out a loan through a payday loan company, credit card or doorstep lender is very real.
Before you hitch your sleigh to that idea, why not take a look at what we offer here at Northern Community Bank.
The problem with payday lenders, and the like, is the long-term financial damage their loans can cause with hefty interest rates and well-hidden fees.
An affordable loan from Northern Community Bank will help to cover the cost of Christmas in return for regular repayments. These are tailored to an applicant’s financial circumstances and spread across the year.
It’s not just about affordability either, but accessibility, too.
People searching for ‘Christmas loans on benefits’ will often go down the high interest, payday lender route because they believe it’s the only option.
Northern Community Bank loans don’t single out people based on background, job status or credit history. Our assessments are carried out by real people. They are based on affordability, not the type of income you’re in receipt of. Once a decision has been made (this usually takes no longer than 24 working hours), a BACS payment can be made that same day.
For added convenience, loan repayments can also be made in a number of ways, whether that be by standing order or a direct benefit payment, such as Child Benefit, Universal Credit or Tax Credits.

    What about next Christmas?

Northern Community Bank is far more than just a lender. We believe in giving back to the community. We believe in helping those who need it most and being there for our account holders.
One of the ways we do that is through our different saving accounts. The Northern Community Bank Christmas Club is designed to help people who want to save up for the festive period but find themselves dipping into these savings for whatever reason.
Our Christmas Club account is different in that once you make a deposit, withdrawals are off limits until November & December.
You can join at any point of the year, there’s no account fees or annual charge. The money, unlike with some other saving schemes, is available to spend wherever you like.
Hopefully, this helps to remove some of that festive stress. And if not, remember, Northern Community Bank is only a phone call away.
